Ted Oakley: ‘Worst Part’ For Stocks Lies Ahead In 1st Half Of 2024

Adam Taggart | Thoughtful Money, Released on 11/26/23

Here at the end of 2023, confidence in the economy and the financial markets is a lot higher than it was at this time a year ago. Is that confidence justified? Or will 2024 deliver a rude awakening? To find out, we turn to the experience and wisdom of financial advisor Ted Oakley, managing partner & founder of Oxbow Advisors. Ted has over 40 years experience helping clients, mostly high net worth families, protect and build wealth through good times and bad. We’ll find out how he’s currently positioning his clients assets for the coming year. Ted is worried that the “worst part” of the bear market that started in 2022 still lies ahead, likely in the first two quarters of 2024.

Ted Oakley, the founder of Oxbow Advisors and co-founder of its predecessor firm, HPO Advisors, has over thirty-five years of experience in the investment industry. The “Oxbow Principles” and the firm’s proprietary investment strategies were developed as a result of the unique perspective Ted gained throughout his almost four-decade tenure advising high net worth investors.

Prior to partnering with Chris Martenson (Adam was General Manager of our earlier site, ChrisMartenson.com), he was a Vice President at Yahoo!, a company he served for nine years. Before that, he did the ‘startup thing’ (mySimon.com, sold to CNET in 2001). As a fresh-faced graduate from Brown University in the early 1990s, Adam got a first-hand look at all that was broken with Wall Street as an investment banking analyst for Merrill Lynch. Most importantly, he’s a devoted husband and dad.
