A new report finds that the incubation period for the coronavirus may be as long as 24 days, 10 days longer than previous expected. That means that the potential size of “infected & contagious yet unaware” masses walking around (outside of China’s quarantine borders) could be substantially larger than feared. On top of that, additional data from China’s hospitals in Wuhan show that once a patient is hospitalized, meaning their condition has become severe, the death rate is very high (~20%). More reinforcement that you want to avoid this virus if at all possible.
And yet, the stock market remains unconcerned to the pandemic threat. Another up day, despite a warning from the Council on Foreign on the fragility of the US economy’s dependence on Chinese supply chains.
Scary stat: 97% of all US antibiotics come from China.
Meanwhile, many regions in China are extending their ‘return to work’ deadlines as efforts to fight the outbreak continue. As we’ve been saying daily now, at some point, the markets are going to have to acknowledge the large and growing lack of economic production that is not occurring.

Chris Martenson, I just read your most recent post (Feb 10, 2020) on the Market Sanity website You make reference to new data coming to you but you make no reference as to how you arrived at the math from that new data. You mention a 1 percent death rate. It strikes me as quite odd considering that using just China’s official numbers of confirmed dead compared to recovered is magnitudes higher. And now in light of the probability that the number of dead are being under reported…. due possibly to the fact that test kits are in short supply and most likely the Chinese prefer not to waste test kits on the dead which of course in turn is producing less fearful numbers to the public. For example, the story about a journalist visiting a crematorium that normally operated 4 hours a day is now running 24/7 and one batch contained 8 confirmed cases and 48 suspected cases. If only half of the suspected were infected creates a math probability ensues that more are dying than being cured. How can that be?
If you really want to help us freaked out fools, why don’t you find out how many deaths (caused by pneumonia) occurred in Wuhan in Dec. of 2019 compared to how many deaths from Pneumonia occurred in Wuhan in 2018. These are statistics that mean something rather than your goofy 1% unsubstantiated BS you try to pass off as fact. It’s sad how hard it is to find those numbers and in my mind it’s criminal for those statistics to be withheld from the public.
I wonder how you arrived at 5% of the people in intensive care are dying when you using official Chinese numbers, your findings are out of the ball park ridiculous. How is it that mare are dying than go into intensive care… Mr. Scientist?
Show us how you came up with those numbers instead of just saying “with the new data that I’ve received, points to such and such of a conclusion. You act like you’re the man that has all the answers but for those of us that are studying more than you are, you come across as being a paid shill to keep the masses from rioting with your “nothing to see here” attitude. Your message is, don’t worry everything is not that bad. You cheat people that need to be prepping big time for this coming nightmare. Be responsible and don’t print anymore BS with out showing us how you arrived at your numbers PLEASE!
