The coronavirus is now reported in 59 countries. It’s a global pandemic, even if the WHO still refuses to call it that. And speaking of the WHO, the CDC, and most of the governments around the world, they’re still unwilling to urge folks to take advance preparation. In too many cases, the numbers and terminology are being ‘fudged’ in ways both obvious and insulting. It’s getting maddening at this point. Not only it their lack of urgency putting lives at risk, it’s increasing the chaos and panic that will ensue in areas overwhelmed by mass outbreaks when they occur.
Even the stubborn financial markets have finally realized that covid-19 is a major problem and have been in violent meltdown. In fact, the past week has seen the fast 10%+ loss in the S&P 500 in history. Folks, this is now a fast-spreading global crisis and it’s crystal clear we can’t rely on the authorities adequately protect or even forewarn us. When it comes to protection from the coronavirus, you’re on your own.

Christopher Martenson is a former American biochemical scientist. Currently he is a writer and trend forecaster interested in macro trends regarding the economy, energy composition and environment. He is the founder of PeakProsperity.com. As one of the early econobloggers who forecasted the housing market collapse and stock market correction years in advance, Chris rose to prominence with the launch of his seminal video seminar which later became a book called The Crash Course. Chris’ latest book (co-authored with Adam Taggart) is called Prosper!: How to Prepare for the Future and Create a World Worth Inheriting.
Hello Chris Martenson,
I noticed that the number of deaths compared to the number of recovered in South Korea produces about a 40% death rate. It makes you wonder if SK is the best data base we have. You’ve got to understand that a free test (due to SK great health care system) is likely to create a more accurate count than a country that has no problem charging a small fortune to just get tested.
I also see that you are still making it sound like 80% of all cases are light according to the CDC. I wonder how they came up with that number, especially when you factor in the shortage of test kits and all the false negatives and false positives that seem to basically nullify any semblance of accuracy. Do you believe that 50 times the number of confirmed cases in China have all been clinically confirmed? That means about 4,000,000 people would need to be tested to come up with this ridiculous 2% kill rat due to so many light cases. My hunch is that they have no actual data facts to support these numbers and at most only a few thousand of these light cases have actually been confirmed.
Has the CDC said whether the stories about running crematoriums 24/7 in Wuhan with as many as 50 times the number of confirmed cases at these crematoriums actually being incinerated with tags on their toes saying saying “suspected case’ but not part of the confirmed total? This is important stuff and ignoring it and advertising a 1% to 2% kill rates in China may be way, way off. Is it responsible to tout a tiny kill rate when it might actually be 40% or more?
