Doug Casey is an American-born libertarian economist and advocate of the free market. He is a bestselling financial author, international investor, entrepreneur, and the founder and chairman of Casey Research, a provider of subscription financial analysis about specific market verticals including natural resources, metals, mining, energy, commodities, and technology. He has authored four books, including Crisis Investing, the top-selling investing book of all time, Totally Incorrect, and Right on the Money. He also publishes a video podcast called Doug Casey’s Take and publishes articles at International Man.
Once again Doug makes some very good points in his economic analysis and, for a change, the host actually does a pretty good job with his comments & questions. I’m starting to like this guy.
But Doug really stubbed his toe with this miscue: “You shouldn’t vote. . . Its’ rare anybody votes for anybody, you’re trying to choose the lesser of two evils.”
Doug falls down pretty hard here with that statement (maybe he’s coming down with the “biden mental syndrome”). He’s actually suggesting that people actually don’t vote enthusiastically for someone, or vote for a candidate they really like & support, and that they always play that tired old game of voting for the lesser of two evils.
If you ascribe to that theory, I’m sorry but you’re either ignorant or very naive, and here’s why. I can assure you that those who feast at the govt pig trough (at lease ½ of the entire country) will go to the polls and vote for every democratic candidate they can find on the ballot. And they’ll do it as if their life depends on it. These people are the ones who donate money to the donkey Party who promises to ensure them that their gravy train subsistence continues ad infinitum, and they do it with abandon. Does the reality of that situation suggest that they even consider voting for the lesser of two evils. Not.One.Bit.
Voting is for those who do not see the government mafia is working against the public and individual interests. A vote supports the continuation of that abusive relationship between the two. It’s time to leave the relationship and start over. There is no repairing a collapsing building in free-fall. It takes a fair amount of ignorance or naiveté to not understand this clear and present reality.
