Glenn Greenwald on Trump’s “Shocking” Firing of FBI Chief James Comey Amid Russian Probe

Amy Goodman, Democracy Now, Released on 5/10/17

“For him to do this just two weeks after Comey made huge news by announcing that he was overseeing a criminal investigation into the Trump campaign’s potential collusion with Russia, on top of which there have been very recent developments in that case of subpoenas being issued to close Trump aides, it is incredibly—it’s just stunning that they would be so indifferent to the obvious appearance that this is about nothing more than Trump directly interfering into an investigation targeting him, by removing the person spearheading it.”

Greenwald is a mystery to me. He sounds eminently reasonable on some issues and utterly foolish on others. This is a case of the latter. We’ve been in the midst of the Russian probe for months and will be for many more months. It never seems to stop even though nothing has come to light; it’s all political posturing. Comey long since proved himself either grossly incompetent or corrupt–likely both. He should’ve been fired by Obama. Trump should’ve fired him the day he took office. To bewail his firing now seems disingenuous. Good riddance.

Now we’ll be listening to the media and politicians cry over this for God knows how long. The silver lining might be that getting bogged down with this tempest in a teapot will leave them less time to ruin everything else.

It is worse than posturing, it is a coordinated coup by the deep state machine – aided and abetted by the corrupt corporate media.

My hope is that this Special Prosecutor quickly turns his sites on more blatant felonies that have gone unindicted and ignored by the same corrupt corporate media.
